Monkey Junction Homeowner Shoots Intruder

Monkey Junction, North Carolina – According to the Wilmington Police Department, a woman shot an intruder Monday afternoon.

Police say the homeowner returned to her home located on the 1500 block of Honeybee Ln. at around 12:30 p.m. and became suspicious when she discovered the front door open.

She entered the home and heard someone walking from room to room somewhere inside. Somehow the homeowner was able to get to a firearm and confronted the intruder.

She fired, striking the suspect, 37-year-old Michael Jarvis. When officers arrived at the scene, Jarvis was transported to the hospital where he remains in critical condition.

Law enforcement officials went on to say that no charges are pending against the homeowner for shooting the suspect.

WWAYTV3 reports Jarvis has a criminal record for burglary going back to 2015 and was arrested as recently as 2018 for breaking into homes in New Hanover County.
