JUSTIFIED: Lincolnton Woman Shoots, Kills Drug Dealer
Lincoln County detectives say that an effort was made to sell stolen guns for drugs in their town, but was thwarted by a civilian with a handgun. The situation left one of the dealers dead after the woman came out of hiding with her gun blazing.
Multiple North Carolina media organizations reported that on Sunday, 51-year-old Marion Yarborough was found dead in the front yard of a Lincolnton home. Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies say no charges have been filed, and are calling it self-defense.
Officials say two men trying to sell guns stolen from Gastonia earlier Saturday entered the house. After an argument broke out, the men drew guns on a resident and forced him to the floor. That’s when the defensive gun use happened, as the woman came out of a back bedroom and shot at the gun dealers, killing Yarborough.
At this point it is unclear whether or not the other criminals involved were injured in the shooting, but eyewitnesses have stated that they saw another man and a woman flee the scene in a vehicle.
The investigation is currently ongoing, and those in the vehicle that escaped, have not been recovered by the police.
The defensive shooter, as well as the man that was taken as a hostage at gunpoint, were not harmed, though their names have not been released for safety purposes.
