Below are answers to the most common questions we get about obtaining a North Carolina Concealed Carry Permit (CCW)
Do I have to be a North Carolina resident to Apply?
Yes. You must be a resident of North Carolina to apply for the permit.
Do I have to be a US Citizen to apply?
Yes. It is required you are a US Citizen to apply for the North Carolina Permit.
How long do I have to live in North Carolina to qualify as a resident?
You must live in North Carolina for at least 30 days immediately prior to filing the application.
What would make me ineligible to apply for or receive the permit?
You must be 21 years of age or older.
You must be able to demonstrate competency with a firearm.
Unless you are serving overseas in the United States Armed Forces, you must currently reside in North Carolina in the United States (US) AND be a US citizen.
What is the Application Fee for the North Carolina permit?
The total fee for the License is 90. It consist of 2 fees:
- License fee of 80.00
- Fingerprint processing fee not to exceed 10.00
This does not include any class fees required for the license.
What is the Renewal Fee?
$75.00
How long does it take to get the permit after my application has been submitted?
Once your application has been processed, it may take up to 90 days to receive your permit. Processing may take longer than 90 days if additional information regarding criminal records must be obtained.
What is Your Refund Policy? What If I Can’t Attend the Class I Signed Up For?
We will refund students when unable to attend a class they have prepaid for. We ask for prepayment only to have a reliable count of how many students are coming. This has become necessary because we fill most of our classes to capacity. Our full refund policy can be see here.
How long is the class?
The class consists of a classroom portion and a live range fire portion. The classroom work is done on the first day and runs appx 8 hours. The range time is done the following day and runs 2-3 hours.
Do I have to shoot a firearm for this class?
Yes there is live fire in this class.
